Hello Lovelies! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Years! Have you made any resolutions for 2018 yet?
The rate of failure for New Year’s resolutions is much higher than that of resolutions made at pretty much any other time of the year. I’m fairly certain the phrase ‘Doomed to Fail’ is actually written in microscopic print between the words ‘Year’s’ and ‘resolutions’, which is why for the longest time I avoided making any. However, as I’ve gotten older I have come to view NYR for what they really are, ‘good intention plans’. Because that’s what’s really important right? Meeting the new year with optimism, even if some of our goals are somewhat too optimistic or unrealistic, it’s the thought that counts! So for the last few years I have fallen in with everyone else and wrote a few goals out to accomplish each year.
2017 really was a great year, a bit of a tough one to be honest, but there was a a lot of good mixed in with all that trial and error. I did and saw so many things, went so many places and tried so many new things. I even went blonde for a minute there! Which you all know I said I would most likely never do! One of my biggest goals for this year was to keep better in touch with friends. As we have all gotten older and are starting families or moving further away to chase our careers, it’s been more difficult to get together or even bump into each other by accident. Because we are all so busy, the idea was that even if it was just sending a short text saying “Checking in! Hope you’re doing well!” I wanted to keep that communication channel open. And yes I sent several texts that actually said that! So that was a goal which, for the most part I was able to keep up with, though it is also one I would like to continue to improve on in the new year.
As for a few resolutions that didn’t quite make the cut in 2017 well, sticking to the resolution maker stereotype, increasing my amount of physical fitness was a bust. But it will be going on the list again this year! As will bettering myself as blogger, though I have been more specific about that this year and have set tangible and specific goals. Speaking of which, story time! When I was a kid I really wanted a kitten (stick with me this will be relevant in a minute!), to which my mom said yes with one stipulation which was that I had to have a glowing report card at the end of the year. She even let me go pick one out although I was not allowed to adopt the kitten or bring it home until I fulfilled my end of the deal. Surprise, surprise as you might imagine that ended up being an excellent motivator and I was able to meet my goal!
This Year & “The Goal”
I plan on doing something similar this for 2018, well…sans the kitten…maybe. Over the past few months I have been asked by five separate individuals to attend New York Fashion Week in September. I keep saying “No” because my blog really isn’t I feel, at a place where I could do that or where attending NYFW would be beneficial. However after having the question continue to come at me from so many different directions I am getting the feeling the unniverse is trying to tell me something here and I have decided to go for it! That means I have a lot of work to do, as of now I have 9 months to get my blog baby to where it needs to be to attend NYFW. and if it isn’t well, I don’t get the ‘kitten’, so to speak. That said here are my 2018 New Year Resolutions, both personal and blog wise! And I would love to hear yours! What will you do with your 2018?
